Bridgeport's Dubielewicz named AHL Rookie of the Month

SPRINGFIELD, MA ... The American Hockey League announced today that Bridgeport Sound Tigers goaltender Wade Dubielewicz has been named the AHL Rookie of the Month for December. Dubielewicz ran his personal unbeaten streak to 12 decisions, allowing just five goals in six appearances last month and keeping Bridgeport atop the AHL's overall standings.

Dubielewicz was 5-0-1 in December with a 0.82 goals against average, a .964 save percentage and two shutouts. He began the month with a 20-save effort in Albany on Dec. 5, helping the Sound Tigers to a 1-1 tie with the River Rats. He made 26 stops in blanking Hartford, 1-0, on Dec. 7, and rang up a 16-save shutout against Utah on Dec. 14. Dubielewicz capped December with another win over rival Hartford, turning aside 32 shots in a 2-1 win over the Wolf Pack on Dec. 27.

In recognition of his accomplishment, Dubielewicz will be presented with an etched crystal trophy by the AHL prior to an upcoming game.

A one-time Hobey Baker Award finalist at the University of Denver, Dubielewicz is 11-2-1 on the season for Bridgeport and leads the AHL with a 1.21 GAA and a .951 save percentage in 14 games. The 24-year-old native of Invermere, B.C., has also recorded three shutouts and has allowed as many as three goals in a game just once.

Other nominees for AHL Rookie of the Month for December include Cincinnati left wing Chris Kunitz, Cleveland right wing Jon DiSalvatore, Houston right wing Matt Foy, Lowell right wing Chad Larose, Manchester left wing Noah Clarke, Manitoba left wing Brandon Nolan, Philadelphia defenseman Randy Jones, Springfield goaltender David LeNeveu, St. John's defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo, Syracuse defenseman Aaron Johnson, Toronto defenseman Doug Lynch, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton right wing Michel Ouellet and Worcester right wing Mike Glumac.
