Monarchs Ink Collins To Tryout

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed center Dusty Collins to a professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Collins, 23, has appeared in 24 games with the ECHL's Ontario Reign this season and recorded 14 points (6-8=14) and 34 penalty minutes for fifth place on the squad. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound native of Gilbert, Arizona, played a majority of the 2007-08 season with the Central Hockey League's Arizona Sundogs where he collected 53 points (23-30=53) and 126 penalty minutes in 63 games.

Collins was also a member of the 2008 CHL champion Sundogs. He has been held off the scoreboard in 13 AHL games over the last two seasons with the Springfield Falcons and the Rockford Icehogs. Selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the fifth round (163rd overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Collins played in 137 games with Northern Michigan University from 2003-07 and picked up 25 points (11-14=25) and 135 penalty minutes. The center will wear No. 41 for the Monarchs.

The Monarchs hopped on a plane for a two-day trip to Winnipeg where they will face off with the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre on Tuesday, December 16 and Wednesday, December 17.
