Hamilton Travels To Manchester And Hartford This Week

The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will play two games on the road this week. The 'Dogs travel to Manchester Friday, December 19th to take on the Monarchs (AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings) for a 7:30 p.m. game at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Hamilton will then head to Hartford for a match-up with the Wolf Pack (AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers) on Saturday, December 20th for 7:00 p.m. at XL Center Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Last week, Hamilton picked up a win and a loss and now has a record of 16-9-2-0. On Thursday, December 11th the 'Dogs hosted the Peoria Rivermen and came up short in a 2-1 loss at Copps Coliseum. The Bulldogs then hit the road on Sunday, December 14th for a match-up against their North Division rivals the Toronto Marlies and were victorious in a 2-1 win at Ricoh Coliseum.

"DAWG HOUSE":

The "Dawg House" will be open on Monday, December 22nd from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. for fans hoping to do some last minute Christmas shopping.

ALUMNI WATCH:

There are currently 43 former Bulldogs in the NHL at this time. Over 60 percent of the players on Hamilton's all-time roster have played in a minimum of one NHL game. Three former Bulldogs head or assistant coaches (Doug Jarvis, Claude Julien, and Geoff Ward) are currently in a coaching capacity in the NHL. Here are a few highlights and accomplishments of ex-'Dogs from this past week:

- Montreal RW Matt D'Agostini picked up one point last week scoring the game winning goal in a 4-1 victory over Calgary (Dec. 9)

- Los Angeles C Jarrett Stoll earned three assists last week all in a 6-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues (Dec. 11)

- Dallas C Mike Ribeiro picked up two points this past week with a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win against Detroit

(Dec. 12)

- Boston Michael Ryder recorded five points last week with a goal in a 5-3 win over Tampa Bay (Dec. 8), an assist and the game winning goal in a 7-3 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers (Dec. 12) and two goals in a second win of 4-2 over Atlanta (Dec. 13)

- Detroit RW Dan Cleary recorded three assists this past week. He earned two assists in a 4-3 OT win over Calgary (Dec. 10) and one assist in a 3-1 loss to Dallas (Dec. 12)

BULLDOUGS FOUNDATION:

Yannick Weber was named as the Community Player of the Month for November. Yannick demonstrated qualities of a true sportsman by dedicating his time to the Bulldogs both on and off the ice. On behalf of the Bulldogs Foundation, he visited schools in Hamilton and signed auographs for kids during a special appearance at a community hockey practice. The award is presented by Mountaineer Movers, agent for North American Van Lines and goes to the player who demonstrates professionalism as well as generosity towards fans throughout the community during that month.

Ryan Russell and Ben Maxwell attended Cathy Weaver School to hand out prizes for the Going for Goals program on Wednesday, December 10th

Ben Maxwell and J.T. Wyman attended C.B. Stirling Elementary School on Friday, December 12th to hand our prizes for the Bulldogs' Ambassadors leadership program.

The Hamilton Bulldogs players and the Bulldogs Foundation, along with the team's Mascot Bruiser, visited McMaster Children's Hospital on Tuesday, December 9th, 2008.

The Bulldogs have visited Mac Kids every year during the holiday season since the team arrived in Hamilton. The players interacted with the children, sang Christmas songs and recited "Twas the Night Before Christmas". The team always enjoys the visit as much as the children and they look forward to returning again.
