
Sharks hit 30 points and will chase Pirates this week in Atlantic

Rewind the Tape:
12.10.08 - Worcester 3 - Springfield 2 OT - DCU Center
Ryan Vesce scored in overtime after a great rush by Lukas Kaspar to give the Sharks their second overtime game winner this season, just :48 seconds into the extra frame. T.J. Fox and Jamie McGinn recorded the other strikes for Worcester while Taylor Dakers stood his ground making 32 stops in net. Jason Demers added two assists from the blue line for Worcester.
12.12.08 - Worcester 1 - Hartford 4 - XL Center
The Sharks fell behind 2-0 just nine minutes into the first period and the Wolf Pack clogged up the neutral zone as the Sharks fell in Hartford 4-1. Riley Armstrong scored a highlight reel shorthanded breakaway goal midway through the first period for the Sharks and Taylor Dakers made 27 saves in net. Worcester allowed three power play goals and P.A. Parenteau added three assists for the Wolf Pack.
12.13.08 - Worcester 4 - Lowell 2 - Tsongas Arena
The two teams combined for 83 shots (Worcester 45, Lowell 37) and Derek Joslin was named the game's #1 star with a goal and an assist in the Sharks 4-2 win in Lowell on Saturday night to break the Sharks three game losing streak on the road. Corey Larose scored on the power play and Ryan Vesce and Steven Zalewski added even strength tallies. Thomas Greiss was spectacular in net with 35 saves. Steven Zalewski was denied on the third penalty shot in franchise history.
12.14.08 - Worcester 1 - Hartford 2 - DCU Center
Hartford scored two goals in the first period and held off the Sharks attack the rest of the way as Worcester fell to Hartford for the 2nd time in three days. Cory Larose scored the only goal for the Sharks and Thomas Greiss made 17 saves in net for Worcester. The Sharks outshot the Wolf Pack 36-19 but could only find the back of the net once on the visiting goaltender, Matt Zaba.
Sharks in the Atlantic...
The Sharks (15-13-0-0) swim in third place in the Atlantic Division with 30 points, 4 points behind the first place Providence Bruins and 3 points behind the second place Portland Pirates. Just eight points separate all seven teams in a very tight Atlantic Division.

*Worcester leads the AHL with shots per game (35.64) and first in shots against per game (24.86)
*The Sharks have 37 fighting major penalties this season through 28 games this season. 11 different players have dropped the gloves already this season (Frazer McLaren (11), Westgarth (9), Moore (3), Staubitz (5), Demers (2), Cavanagh, McGinn (2), Dan DaSilva, Andrew Desjardins, Kyle McLaren, Brendan Buckley.
*Derek Joslin is first in the AHL among defensemen with 88 shots on goal and is 4th among d-men in scoring with 18 points (6-12-18).
*Frazer McLaren is second among AHL rookies with 11 fighting major penalties.
*Steven Zalewski ranks 7th in the AHL among rookies in points (7-12-19) and third among rookies with 84 shots on goal.
*Claude Lemieux has five points (2-3-5) in 10 games since his return to professional hockey with the Sharks on 11.28.08.
Roster Moves:
*San Jose recalled forward Lukas Kaspar from the Worcester Sharks on Friday. Lukas has played in 21 games with Worcester this season recording 13 points (4-9-13). Kaspar started the season with San Jose playing in seven games recording two points (1-1-2).
*San Jose recalled rookie forward Jamie McGinn from the Worcester Sharks on Sunday for his second recall of the season. McGinn has played in 22 games with Worcester recording 15 points (8-7-15). Jamie has three points (2-1-3) in five games with SJ this season.

Worcester to host the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications!
The Sharks and the city of Worcester will host the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications on January 25th and 26th at the DCU Center. Tickets are on sale to the general public now. The 2009 event in Worcester will mark the fourth time since it was revived in 1995 that the AHL All-Star Classic will take place in New England. The AHL All-Star Classic was last held in Massachusetts in 1959 at the Eastern States Coliseum in West Springfield.
Coming Up:
The Sharks play another "3in3" weekend as they host the Portland Pirates on Friday night at 7:05pm and the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday at 7:05pm. The Sharks then travel to Portland on Sunday for a 4pm battle against the Pirates.
Friday's game will be aired live on Charter TV-3 and all college students may purchase tickets for just $9.
On Saturday, the first 3,000 fans will receive a hand autographed Derek Joslin collector's card presented by WTAG on Family Fun Pack Night. On every Saturday; one ticket, one hot dog, and one soda cost just $15.25 each when buying a minimum of four tickets. It is also Saturday night signings, as a Sharks player will sign autographs in between the 2nd and 3rd period.
