Manchester Monarchs News Release

GLENS FALLS, N.Y.- The Manchester Monarchs lost for the second straight night to the Adirondack Thunder, 3-2, Saturday at the Cool Insuring Arena.

The Monarchs (13-15-1-1) dropped their fifth straight game in a 3-2 loss to the Thunder (17-9-2-2).

After a scoreless first period, the Thunder took the lead 57 seconds into the second period, when Adirondack's Blake Thompson scored his second of the season. The defenseman received a pass from Kelly Summers as he crashed the far side of the crease and beat Monarchs goaltender Charles Williams to make the score, 1-0.

Matt Salhany then doubled Adirondack's lead with less than a second remaining in the second period. Shane Conacher and Peter MacArthur set up Salhany on the power play, when he snuck the puck past Williams, to net his fifth goal of the season and give the Thunder a 2-0 lead.

Cullen Bradshaw increased Adirondacks lead to 3-0, after capitalizing off a quick end-to-end transition. Salhany took a shot from above the circles that Bradshaw deflected, up and over the shoulder of Williams, to make it a three-goal game.

The Monarchs got on the board at 14:05 of the third period on the 14th goal of the season by Nic Pierog, on the power play. Daniil Miromanov wristed a shot from the point, where Pierog gathered the rebound and snuck a shot past Thunder goaltender Devin Buffalo, to make the score, 3-1.

Manchester pulled within one goal at 16:27 of the third period when David Kolomatis scored his fourth goal of the season, on the power play. Kolomatis ripped a shot past Buffalo from the top of the right circle to bring the Monarchs within one goal, but they could not complete the comeback and fell, 3-2.

The Monarchs return to action Monday, Dec. 31 at 6 p.m., when they take on the Maine Mariners on New Year's Eve from SNHU Arena. For tickets, Season Memberships and group tickets, please contact the Monarchs front office at 603-626-7825.
