Louisville Bats News Release
LOUISVILLE, KY - Mike Minor achieved an immaculate inning in a 4-2 Bats victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers Friday night at Louisville Slugger Field.
Following a 44-minute rain delay, the Bats and Storm Chasers were quiet through the first inning. In the bottom of the second, Louisville plated the first run of the contest when Chris Okey roped a line-drive down the right field line bouncing into the corner for an RBI-triple. TJ Friedl extended the Bats lead in the next at-bat, hitting a two-run homer into the Humana Cabana in right field, giving Louisville a 3-0 advantage.
In the following half inning, Reds' rehabber Mike Minor (1-2, 3.38) achieved one of the rarest feats in the game of baseball, tossing an immaculate inning (nine pitches and three strikeouts).
Minor would finish with six innings of work, allowing just three hits and a lone run while striking out nine.
Omaha would scratch one run in both the fifth and seventh innings, thanks to a JaCoby Jones solo shot and a Clay Dungan sacrifice fly, respectively.
Fernando Cruz would enter in the ninth and shut the door on the Storm Chasers, closing out the game and notching his seventh save of the season.
Games four and five of the series are scheduled for tomorrow night at Louisville Slugger Field and will take place as two seven-inning games to make up for a postponed game from May 26. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. with game two slated to commence thirty minutes after the conclusion of game one.
Left-hander Reiver Sanmartin (0-2, 13.50) will get the ball for Louisville in game one, with southpaw Austin Cox (0-2, 4.66) set to go for Omaha. Game two will see right-hander Deck McGuire (0-0, 0.00) on the bump for the Bats, as righty Daniel Mengden (3-3, 7.22) will get the start for the Storm Chasers.
