
Jacksonville Cruises to 7-3 Win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

MOOSIC, Pa. - Peyton Burdick, Luke Williams, and Lorenzo Quintana all homered as the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp defeated the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 7-3 Friday night at PNC Field
The Jumbo Shrimp (24-22) got the bats going early in the top of the first against RailRiders starter Josh Maciejewski (L, 0-1). Lewin Díaz reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a two-out double from Quintana to open the scoring for Jacksonville. In the following at-bat, Burdick launched a two-run home run, putting the Jumbo Shrimp ahead 3-0.
Jacksonville added to their lead in the top of the third. Williams walked, stole second, and advanced to third on a flyout by Jerar Encarnacion. Díaz grounded out but Williams scored to give the Jumbo Shrimp a 4-0 cushion.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (17-28) answered with a run in the bottom of the third against Jacksonville starter Daniel Castano (W, 2-0). Oswald Peraza walked with one out and came around to score on a single by Phillip Evans to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Jacksonville continued to add to their lead in the top of the fifth. With two outs, Williams blasted a solo home run in his debut game with the Marlins organization to give the Jumbo Shrimp a 5-1 advantage.
The RailRiders wasted no time and responded in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Peraza continued his hot series with a solo home run to make the score 5-2.
The Jumbo Shrimp continued to knock the ball around PNC Field in the top of the sixth. Díaz led off the inning with a walk and Quintana smashed a two-run home run to push the Jacksonville lead up to five, 7-2.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tallied their final run in the bottom of the seventh. Ender Inciarte doubled with one out and scored on a single by Estevan Florial in the following at-bat to make the score 7-3.
Castano set a season-high with nine strikeouts in five innings against two runs on four hits with two walks. Zach Pop contributed two innings with one run allowed on four hits with a walk. Jake Fishman wrapped up the game with two scoreless innings, adding two strikeouts.
Jacksonville and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre continue their series Saturday at 4:05 p.m. ET. The Jumbo Shrimp will hand the ball to LHP Matthew Kent (1-4, 5.62) and the RailRiders will counter with LHP Ken Waldichuk (0-0, 1.69)
