Iowa Cubs News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - The Iowa Cubs (23-22) allowed seven runs in two innings to drop game four to the Memphis Redbirds (25-21) by a score of 7-0, Friday at AutoZone Park.

The matchup started as a pitcher's duel, with Alec Mills and Aaron Brooks matching each other pitch-for-pitch. Mills allowed just two hits and a walk through three innings, while Brooks was perfect through three.

Unfortunately for Iowa, the scoreless innings would end in the fourth, when for the second time this series, Ben DeLuzio hit a grand slam against Sean Newcomb. Memphis wasn't done there, scoring three more runs in the fifth to break it open 7-0.

With the seven-run lead, Brooks stayed aggressive, allowing just two hits while striking out four over his five innings pitched. The Redbirds relievers kept it going, combining to allow only one more hit over the final four innings of the game.

With just three hits and eight strikeouts, Iowa was shutout for the fourth time this season, dropping to 1-3 in the series against Memphis.

POSTGAME NOTES:

- Eric Stout spun two scoreless innings of relief for Iowa, allowing just one hit while striking out four. He struck out the side in the eighth inning.

- Despite having two runs put on his line with the grand slam in the fourth inning, Alec Mills threw 3.2 innings of three-hit ball for the I-Cubs. He walked two and struck out one in his third Major League rehab appearance of the year.

- Jared Young had one of Iowa's three hits tonight, recording a double in the fourth inning. It marked his third double of the series after recording two in game two of the series.

Iowa and Memphis are set to play game five of their six-game series tomorrow, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 at AutoZone Park. For more information and tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
