(Allentown, PA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (25-21) lost to the Worcester Red Sox (21-25) 16-2 on Friday evening. The WooSox totaled 15 hits while being issued 10 walks - a season high by IronPigs pitchers.

Lehigh Valley started out on a good note in the bottom of the first inning against WooSox starting pitcher Brian Keller as they scored two runs to take a 2-0 lead. Darick Hall hit an RBI single that scored Matt Vierling and Yairo Munoz hit a sacrifice fly that scored Austin Wynns. The two runs would be the only runs Lehigh Valley scored the entire game.

Michael Mariot (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season as he allowed seven runs (all earned) off seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts recorded. He gave up two home runs (Rob Refsynder and Yolmer Sanchez).

Jeff Singer allowed three runs in relief of Mariot in just one inning pitched. Joe Gatto and Kyle Dohy also allowed three runs in their relief outings. Jake Newberry and Drew Maggi each pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Dillon Maples issued three walks in just 1/3 of an inning pitched.

Geoff Hartlieb (1-2) earned the win for Worcester as he pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Keller. Ryan Brasier, Andrew Politi, and Frank German each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

The IronPigs and WooSox return to action on Saturday evening at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
