EVERETT, Wash. - The extra time heroics at home continued for the Everett Silvertips Saturday night, as Tim Metzger slammed the door in the shootout for a 2-1 victory over the Spokane Chiefs.
Brayden Crampton scored the first goal of the game at 7:11 in the first period, lifting a wrist shot over the shoulder of Metzger for his second goal of the season.
Everett evened the score at 7:08 in the third period, tapping in a powerplay rebound for his 35th goal of the season.
Though both teams had a powerplay in the overtime period, neither could capitalize, sending the game into a shootout. Austin Roest scored for the Silvertips against Cooper Michaluk, with Metzger turning aside all three attempts for a 2-1 victory.
Metzger saved 32 of 33 in regulation plus overtime for the win, his fourth of the season. Cooper Michaluk turned aside 37 of 38 in the shootout loss.
The Silvertips are in Kelowna Wednesday night taking on the Rockets at 7 p.m. Live coverage will be featured on KRKO Radio. They return home Friday hosting the Chiefs at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available.
