Trans-Canada Highway Clash Hits Brandt Centre Saturday

Regina, Sask. - It's the Trans-Canada Highway Clash as the Regina Pats host the Moose Jaw Warriors at 7:00 p.m. inside the Brandt Centre, Saturday.

In partnership with the Western Hockey League, the Pats and 10 other WHL Clubs are participating in the Orange Jersey Project throughout February 2023. WHL Clubs will sport special-edition orange jerseys, complete with the WHL Truth and Reconciliation logo, during warmup of regular season games during the month of February. Starting tonight in warmup, the Pats will be wearing those special jerseys tonight, and February 20, 22 and 25, as well as during warmups for the Pats Indigenous Celebration Night on March 15.

The Pats are coming off a very successful road trip to Alberta, picking up five of a possible eight points throughout last week, going 2-1-1. The club has also played well over their last 10 games coming in, going 6-3-1-0 during that stretch.

Regina is coming off a 5-1 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Sunday to finish the trip snapping their two game winning-streak as well as their stretch of points in three straight. Connor Bedard scored the opening goal for his 45th of the season before the Tigers scored five unanswered goals, with two of them in the first. The final shots were 32-31 for the Tigers. The Pats finished 3-3 on the penalty kill and 0-3 on the power play.

Meanwhile, the Moose Jaw Warriors took down the Edmonton Oil Kings on Wednesday on home ice 6-3 for their third straight win. Jagger Firkus scored his third career hat-trick, Ryker Korczak tallied three assists, Ben Riche, Matthew Gallant and Denton Mateychuk tallied two assists and Atley Calvert finished with 1G-1A. Logan Dowhaniuk scored against his former team and Jackson Unger made 17 saves for the win. The final shots were 42-20 for the Warriors. Edmonton went 1-3 on their power play while Moose Jaw finished 2-4 on their man advantage.

The Warriors are coming off a 2-1 Alberta road trip and are 5-1-0 over their last six games since since snapping a two game skid on January 27, outscoring their opponents 21-to-12 during that time.
