Prince George Cougars News Release
Kelowna, BC - The Prince George Cougars collected their season high fifth consecutive win with a 9-2 victory over the Kelowna Rockets, Friday at Prospera Place.
Tyler Brennan posted his twelfth win of the season, making 21 saves on 23 Kelowna shots. Cole Dubinsky scored his first WHL hat-trick, and Chase Wheatcroft had himself another big night, collecting two goals and two assists.
The Cougars got the scoring started early and often, putting 3 goals on 6 shots by Talyn Boyko in the opening period. Chase Wheatcroft, Cole Dubinsky, and Hudson Thornton all found the back of the net to get the Cats ahead 3-0. Kelowna responded with a late marker from Carson Golder to get the Rockets within two goals after 20 minutes.
In the second, the Cougars continued their offensive explosion, getting three more goals from Caden Brown, Cole Dubinsky, and Jaxsen Wiebe to make it 6-1. Just like the opening period, the Rockets got a late goal, and it came off the stick of Trae Johnson. The Cougars were up big, however, after 40 minutes.
In the third, the Cats put the icing on the cake, getting three more goals from Chase Wheatcroft, Cole Dubinsky, and Blake Eastman to propel PG to a 9-2 victory over the Rockets.
