Memphis Redbirds News Release

NASHVILLE, TN - The Memphis Redbirds held on to yet another one-run win in game two of a six-game series over the Nashville Sounds on Wednesday night at First Horizon Park by a final score of 3-2.

Catcher Pedro Pages delivered in the early innings for Memphis. The right-handed hitter blasted his second home run of the season in the second inning, a two-run shot to tie the ballgame at two. Each of his Triple-A homers have come to tie the game, with his first coming last Thursday night at Durham to tie the game in the ninth inning. Two innings later in Wednesday night's victory, Pages notched a sacrifice fly to push across Paul DeJong and put the Redbirds up 3-2.

Designated hitter Ben Deluzio registered a base hit and stole his 23rd base of the season. That stolen base puts him in 6th place on the single season stolen base list in Memphis Redbirds history and are the most bags stolen by a Redbird since Oscar Mercado's 31 in 2018.

Outside of a two-run homer in the first inning, Connor Thomas (5-3) pitched five strong innings to earn the win. He struck out the side in the second frame and found his way out of a first and third jam in the fifth. Zack Thompson was stellar in his first appearance with Memphis since May 31, retiring all six batters he faced while striking out four. Ryan Loutus (S, 1) earned the first Triple-A save of his career.

The Memphis Redbirds (48-38) will face the Nashville Sounds (52-33) on Thursday night for game three of the six game series. RHP Jake Woodford is set to start for Memphis opposite RHP Josh Lindblom for Nashville. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm CDT, with pregame 10 minutes prior on memphisredbirds.com and the First Pitch App.
