
Saints Batter and Bruise Mud Hens in 11-6 Victory in Suspended Game from Tuesday

ST. PAUL, MN - The St. Paul Saints waited a long time to get the Toledo Mud Hens to CHS Field. After 17 straight games over two seasons at Fifth Third Field, that finally happened. Michael Helman homered twice, the Saints hit four home runs, and scored more runs in one game than they did in any of the previous 17 against the Mud Hens. The Saints won the resumed game from Tuesday night 11-6 in front of 7,196 at CHS Field.
Michael Helman led off the Saints first with a solo homer to right, his fifth of the season, putting the Saints up 1-0. It's the 10th straight game the Saints have homered, the longest current streak in Minor League Baseball. With one out, Miguel Sanó walked, moved to second on a single to left by Tim Beckham, and scored on Mark Contreras' RBI double to left putting the Saints up 2-0.
The Mud Hens responded in the second inning as Josh Lester led off with a solo homer to right-center, his 15th of the season, making it 2-1. Daz Cameron followed with a double and, with one out, Jamie Westbrook doubled home Cameron tying the game at two. Zach Short walked and with two outs Derek Hill walked to load the bases. Kody Clemens put the Mud Hens up 3-2 with an RBI single to right.
The Saints grabbed two runs before play was halted in the bottom of the second courtesy of Sanó. Jermaine Palacios walked and John Andreoli doubled to center putting runners at second and third. With two outs, Sanó roped a two-run double to the gap in right-center giving the Saints a 4-3 lead.
When play resumed on Wednesday the Mud Hens tied the game in the third when Lester led off with a double and scored on a one out double by Kerry Carpenter.
In the fourth, the Mud Hens grabbed the lead as Derek Hill tripled off the wall in right and scored when the relay throw to third by Jermaine Palacios went into the Mud Hens dugout making it 5-4.
The lead didn't last long as the Saints scored two in the bottom of the inning courtesy of the long ball. John Andreoli led off the inning with a walk and with one out Jake Cave drilled a two-run homer to right, his 12th of the season, giving the Saints a 6-5 lead.
The Saints continued to use the long ball in the bottom of the fifth as Contreras led off the inning with a single to left. Caleb Hamilton drilled a two-run homer to left-center, his 10th of the season, putting the Saints up 8-5. With two outs Andreoli walked and Helman followed with his second homer of the game and sixth of the season, a two-run blast to left-center, increasing the lead to 10-5.
The Saints put the finishing touches on the game with a run in the eighth. Cave drew a walk, stole second, advanced to third on a fly out, and scored on Contreras' second double of the game making it 11-5.
