Iowa Cubs News Release

DES MOINES, IA - The Buffalo Bisons (44-42) tied the series with an 8-4 victory over the Iowa Cubs (38-47), Wednesday at Principal Park.

Narciso Crook got Iowa on the board with a two-run home run to start the scoring in the second, giving Cam Sanders some early run support. Sanders kept the lead through three innings, but it all came apart in the fourth.

Buffalo scored five runs on a single, bases loaded walk and a bases loaded triple to take a 5-2 lead. Dixon Machado drove in a run with a single in the bottom of the fifth and again in the bottom of the seventh to make it a one-run game.

Unfortunately for Iowa, the Bisons padded their lead with a three-run eighth, getting a two-run blast from Cullen Large followed by a wild pitch from Cayne Ueckert.

Eric Yardley and Trent Thornton each spun scoreless innings for Buffalo to win the game and even the series at one game apiece.

POSTGAME NOTES:

- Dixon Machado went 3-for-4 for the second consecutive night, raising his batting average to .304 on the year.

- John Hicks went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a double today. He and Machado combined for six of Iowa's nine hits tonight.

- Cam Sanders lost his fifth Triple-A game tonight, allowing five earned runs on three hits and five walks over 3.2 innings pitched. The righty struck out seven.
