July 13, 2022 - International League (IL)
Rochester Red Wings News Release
The Rochester Red Wings dropped a 6-1 contest against the Omaha Storm Chasers on Wednesday night at Frontier Field. The loss brings the series record to 1-1, as the Wings drop to fifth place in the International League East.
LHP Carson Teel made his third start for Rochester and gave up five hits on one earned while striking out four batters in 4.2 innings. His 79 pitches thrown on Wednesday are the most he's thrown in a game this season, and his four strikeouts were his most in a game since June 18 when he logged seven in a loss at Scranton.
Omaha LHP Marcelo Martinez walked Wings LF Matt Lipka with the bases loaded in the fourth, as 2B Adrian Sanchez scored and gave Rochester a 1-0 lead. Teel allowed a run early in the fifth on a soft single RBI to tie the game, but the Storm Chasers took a 3-1 lead when RHP Matt Brill hit an Omaha batter and walked another, both with the bases loaded, as the Wings gave up a three-run inning.
The Storm Chasers took a 4-1 lead when John Rave hit a single RBI off RHP Jefry Rodriguez. LHP Luis Avilan gave up a two-run ninth inning as Rochester's deficit grow to five runs.
Rochester has not won the first two games in a series since May 10-11 at Worcester, and their season record drops to 45-41, just four losses shy of .500.
1B Jake Noll went 2-for-4 at the plate, extending his hit streak to 12 games and breaking his previous Triple-A high of 11 games with the Fresno Grizzlies in 2019.
Omaha RF John Rave earned his first multi-hit game at the Triple-A level, going 2-for-3 with a double.
The Wings will send RHP Cory Abbott to the mound on Friday at 7:05 p.m. in search of a game-three win against Omaha.
