Durham Bulls News Release
Lawrenceville, GA - The Durham Bulls (46-40) dropped a 2-1 decision to the Gwinnett Stripers (42-44) in game two of their six-game set on Tuesday afternoon at Coolray Field.
The Stripers struck first in the opening frame as LF Preston Tucker clubbed an RBI single. The Bulls would respond in the second, as C Ford Proctor tattooed a solo shot to tie the game at one. Gwinnett, however, would retake the lead in the third as DH Mike Ford used an RBI double to put the Stripers up for good.
The Bulls had a solid day on the mound as the pitching staff of Kevin Herget, Dalton Moats, Pete Fairbanks and Javy Guerra allowed a combined two runs on six hits, while ringing up five strikeouts. Herget picked up his first loss of the season in seven decisions, with Moats, Fairbanks and Guerra combining for 3.2 hitless frames. Gwinnett pitcher Freddy Tarnok earned the win after six innings of work, allowing one run two hits and ringing up four strikeouts.
The Bulls are set to continue the series against the Stripers on Thursday evening for game three of their series. RHP Easton McGee is scheduled to start for Durham and be opposed by RHP Kyle Muller for Gwinnett. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
The Bulls will return to the DBAP for game one of a three-game set versus the Norfolk Tides beginning on Friday, July 22nd. First pitch of the series opener is set for 6:35pm. ¬â¹
