
McEachern Assigned, Jurcina Recalled

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, announced that the Boston Bruins have loaned left wing Shawn McEachern to Providence and have recalled from loaned defenseman Milan Jurcina. McEachern will be with the P-Bruins Friday, December 2 when they take on the Springfield Falcons at the Dunkin' Donuts Center at 7:05 p.m.
McEachern is entering his 15th professional season. In 20 games with Boston this season, McEachern has six points (2g, 4a) and 16 PIM. The Waltham, Massachusetts native was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the sixth round, 110th overall, in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. In his rookie season, he was a member of the Penguins team that won the Stanley Cup. In 1995 he was traded by Pittsburgh to Boston where he spent a season. From Boston he went to the Ottawa Senators, where he spent six seasons including 2000-01 when he set career highs in all offensive categories with 72 points (32g, 40a). From Ottawa the left wing was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers, where he spent two seasons before coming back to Boston.
McEachern has played in a total of 903 regular season NHL games with 577 points (256g, 321a) and 500 PIM. He has participated in the playoffs in eleven of his fifteen seasons and has seen 97 post-season games, recording 37 points (12g, 25a) and 62 PIM. Prior to turning pro, McEachern spent three seasons at Boston University, where in 120 games he had 186 points (79g, 107a) and 153 PIM.
Jurcina is entering his fourth professional season. In seven games with Providence, the Liptovsy-Mikulas, Slovakia native has three assists and eight PIM. Jurcina began the season with Boston playing in nine games and recording one assist and 18 PIM with a +1 rating. Jurcina spent the past two seasons in Providence where in 153 games, the defenseman had 42 points (11g, 31a) and 152 PIM. He was drafted by Boston with their seventh pick (eighth round), 241st overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
The Bruins are back home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, December 2 versus the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday, December 4 versus the Lowell Lock Monsters at 4:05 p.m. Tickets are available online at providencebruins.com, at all TicketMaster outlets (401-331-2211 or 508/617-931-2000) and the Dunkin' Donuts Center box office. The Providence Bruins first jersey auction of the season is underway. The P-Bruins are auctioning off the first set of gold third jerseys through a live auction on the team's website, providencebruins.com. The jersey auction will run through Friday, December 16 at 5:00 p.m. and jerseys will be shipped in time for the holidays.
