Cleveland Barons News Release
SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Ryane Clowe scored a goal and added an assist leading the Barons to a 3-1 lead at San Antonio Friday night. The Barons will finish their four-game swing through Texas on Sunday night at Houston against the Aeros.
The Barons goal at the outset was to shoot as many pucks on net as possible and drive the goal for rebounds. The result was a power play goal from Ryane Clowe, who registered his second of the season with a rebound tally on San Antonio's goaltender Brian Boucher. The Barons out-shot the Rampage 11-7 in the opening period.
An aggressive penalty kill produced the only goal of the second period as Barons forward Mike Iggulden scored the team's first short-handed goal of the season. Mid-way through the middle session Iggulden streaked into the Rampage zone on a breakaway, but was hauled down from behind earning the rookie forward a penalty shot. Iggulden converted for a 2-0 lead after forty minutes of play.
San Antonio pressured the Barons in the third period out-shooting Cleveland 13-6 in the final frame and scoring an even strength goal from Pascal Rheaume. However, the Barons snuffed out any thoughts of a comeback as Steve Bernier scored his sixth goal of the year into an empty net for a 3-1 win.
The Barons enjoy a day off tomorrow before visiting Houston on Sunday evening for a 5 O'clock match up with the Aeros. The game will be broadcast live via the B2 Networks. The links to access Barons broadcasts are available at the team's official web site. Schedule and promotional information is also found online by Crashing the Net at www.clevelandbarons.net. The Barons return to home ice on Tuesday, December 6th when they host the Toronto Marlies at 7pm.
