South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and head coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that right winger Cam McCaffrey has been recalled to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.
McCaffrey, 23, has appeared in 57 games with the Stingrays this season tallying 19 points on 11 goals and eight assists with 148 penalty minutes. Although McCaffrey, a 6'1", 210-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, is second on the team in penalty minutes, he does lead the league in major penalties with 18.
This marks McCaffrey's first call-up to the American Hockey League this season. Prior trips for McCaffrey include a 19-game stint with the Portland Pirates during the 2004-05 season and three games with the Hershey Bears last season.
In a separate transaction, center Matt Reid has been sent back to the Stingrays from the Hershey Bears, South Carolina's AHL affiliate. Reid, a native of Massena, NY, played three games with Hershey tallying three points on three assists and finishing with a plus/minus rating of plus-2. Reid will join the team down in Florida and is expected in the line-up tomorrow night.
In other roster moves, defenseman Tim Judy has been released from the team and defenseman Sasha Pokulok was placed on the 3-day injured reserve.
