INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI - The Missouri Mavericks fell short 3-2 for the second night in a row to the visiting Allen Americans at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.

The Mavs own the top spot in the ECHL, and earned home ice advantage throughout the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs by clinching the Brabham Cup as regular-season point champions. Missouri will play their first post-season games on Saturday, Apr. 16 (7:05p.m.) and Sunday, Apr. 17 (4:05p.m.). Tickets for these games will go on sale at 10:00a.m. on Monday, Apr. 4th.
It looked as if the first period would pass without a tally from either side, then with only 10 seconds remaining on the clock, Tristan King opened the scoreboard for the Allen Americans. Just 8 seconds later, Missouri tied it up when Tyler Barnes scored a quick goal with a lone assist from Darian Dziurzynski.
Rookie Darren Nowick gave the Mavericks the lead at 6:59 of the second period with the help of Dziurzynski and defenseman Chris Owens. But the lead was short-lived, as Spencer Asuchak registered a goal for the Americans just 16 seconds following Nowick's second tally of the season.
David Makowski, who scored two goals for the Americans in their 3-2 win on Friday night over Missouri, notched the eventual game-winning goal at 16:05 of the second period while Allen exercised their top-ranked power-play unit.
The Mavericks 3-2 loss was déja vu defeat to their Friday night contest against the defending Kelly Cup Champions. Missouri's last contest of the regular season against the Americans brings their season series record to 6-5-0-0.
The Mavericks play their last regular-season home game on Tuesday, Apr. 5th at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena when they host the Tulsa Oilers for a 7:05p.m. contest. Tickets are available online at Ticketmaster.com and in-person at the arena box office.
