
Rochester Recalls Defenseman Spiro Goulakos

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that rookie defenseman Spiro Goulakos has been recalled by Rochester.
Goulakos, 26, heads to Rochester for his third AHL stint of the season. The 6-foot-2 195-pound defenseman has recorded 30 points (seven goals, 23 assists), 99 penalty minutes and a plus-13 rating in 51 games with the Jackals this season. Goulakos leads the team with five power-play goals and leads club blueliners in assists. The rookie defenseman has also skated in eight games with Rochester this season posting three shots on goal, four penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating.
Prior to turning pro, the Montreal, Quebec native posted 71 points (22 goals, 49 assists) and 176 penalty minutes in 130 NCAA games while serving as a two-time captain at Colgate University. As a senior, Goulakos was named to the NCAA Lowes Senior Class All-American First Team and was named to the ECAC All-Tournament Team. He was also recognized as Colgate's Terry Slater Award winner as a senior whose performance, leadership, and dedication on and off the ice had the greatest impact on Colgate hockey.
