INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI - The Missouri Mavericks elevated their league-leading record another 2 points on Friday night, defeating the Tulsa Oilers 3-1 in front of a sold out crowd of 5,800 fans at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
The Mavericks, who have already claimed a berth in the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs, played host to the first stop of the ECHL's annual Kelly Cup Tour at the game on Friday night, offering fans the opportunity to get their picture taken with the coveted trophy - which the Mavs will compete for this April.

Friday night was also Military Appreciation Night. The Mavericks wore special military-themed jerseys, which were auctioned-off directly after the game, with proceeds benefitting Folds of Honor-Kansas City.
Missouri center, Reed Seckel, scored the opening goal for the home team, giving the Mavs a 1-0 lead at 2:26 with a lone assist from defenseman Chris Owens.
The Oilers tied the game up in the second period at 4:24 when Andrew Johnston bested Milner for a 1-1 game with the help of Tom Kroshus, but it was a short-lived celebration for Tulsa as the Mavs took back the lead just 43 seconds later at 5:07 when Trevor Ludwig sniped a one-timer from the point past net-minder Kevin Carr during a Missouri power-play. Zach Tolkinen and Andrew Courtney assisted on the play.
The Mavs expanded their lead, which would last through, to the end of regulation, when David deKastrozza scored his ninth goal of the season at 13:23 of the final frame with the help of Reed Seckel on a breakaway play.
Parker Milner made 19 saves between the pipes for the Mavericks, earning his sixteenth win of the season for the home team.
The Mavericks play their next four games on the road, traveling to Allen, TX on Wednesday, Mar. 16 to face-off against the Allen Americans. The No. 1 team in the ECHL will return home to Silverstein Eye Centers Arena on Wednesday, Mar. 23rd when the Evansville IceMen are in town for a 7:05p.m. puck drop.
