Monarchs Announce Roster Moves

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that Maxim Kitsyn has been assigned to the Monarchs by the Ontario Reign (AHL), Matt MacKenzie has been loaned to the Portland Pirates (AHL) and the Monarchs have signed Steve Brown to a standard player contract.

Kitsyn, 24, played in 54 games with the Monarchs this season before being recalled by Ontario on Feb. 24, scoring 45 points on 23 goals and 22 assists. Kitsyn rejoins the Monarchs on a 13-game point streak (8g, 8a) dating back to Jan. 24. Kitsyn has also scored in 19-of-20 games, scoring 24 points on 13 goals and 11 assists. With the Reign, Kitsyn played in two games without recording a point.

The 6-foot-3, 207-pound forward from Novokuznetsk, Russia has played in 144 ECHL games in his career, scoring 118 points on 63 goals and 55 assists while adding a +65 rating and 233 penalty minutes. Kitsyn won a Gold Medal in the 2010-11 U-20 World Junior Championships with Team Russia, and was a 6th round draft pick (158th overall) of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

MacKenzie, 24, played in 53 games for the Monarchs this season, and scored 20 points on two goals and 18 assists, playing to a +21 rating and earning 102 penalty minutes. The captain of the Monarchs notched an assist in three of his last four games.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound defenseman from New Westminster, British Columbia was the 83rd overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres. MacKenzie made his AHL debut in the 2012-13 season for the Rochester Americans, playing in 20 games before suffering a season-ending injury. In his fourth pro season, MacKenzie has totaled 161 AHL games, all with Rochester, scoring 24 points on four goals and 20 assists.

Brown, 27, played in 31 games for the Danbury Titans (FHL) this season, scoring 13 points on three goals and 10 assists, while recording 82 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound native of Spring Lake, N.C. played two career games in the ECHL for the Elmira Jackals, recording one assist. In his career, Brown has played in 164 FHL games, scoring 60 points on 12 goals and 48 assists, while logging 207 penalty minutes.

Kitsyn, Brown and the Monarchs are back in action tonight (7 p.m.), when they take on the Reading Royals from the Verizon Wireless Arena on Max's Superhero Birthday.
