Mallards Notes

Last Night

Brad Thiessen made 25 saves and Tommy Mele and Colin Mulvey provided a goal and an assist apiece as the host Cyclones scored three second period goals on the way to a 3-1 victory over the Mallards.

Race

After last night's loss, the Mallards remain in ninth place in the Western Conference, one point behind the Tulsa Oilers, who hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the conference.

Busy

Tonight's game is the second of three in three nights for the Mallards.

On the Road Again

Tonight's game is the third of six straight on the road for the Mallards. They have started that road swing 1-1-0. After taking on the Cyclones tonight and travelling to Evansville to clash with the IceMen tomorrow evening, the Mallards will play two games against the Komets in Fort Wayne next weekend.

Road Warriors

Last night's loss ended the Mallards' three-game road winning streak.

Three Strikes

The Mallards were outscored 3-0 in the second period last night after failing to score while outshooting the Cyclones 13-7 in the first period.

Shorthanded

The Mallards last night allowed a shorthanded goal- Brett Wysopal's game winner- after scoring four shorthanded goals in their prior four games.

Muzzled

Thiessen kept the Mallards off the scoreboard for better than two and a half periods last night until Darren McMillan scored at 10:38 of the third period.

Between the Pipes

Brody Hoffman made 17 saves while suffering the loss in goal last night.

Arch Madness

Olivier Archambault assisted on McMillan's goal last night and has now recorded eight points (five goals and three assists) in his last seven games.

Leader of the Pack

Matt Carey has recorded 22 points (11 goals and 11 assists) in his last 18 games and leads the Mallards with 19 goals on the season. Carey is the only Mallard averaging a point per game: he has 35 points in 35 games.

Rook

Matt Neal's six-game point-scoring streak (4-2-6) ended last night. Neal remains the Mallards' leader in points (40) and ranks tenth among ECHL rookies in points.

Special Teams

The Mallards went 0-for-4 on the power play last night while the Cyclones went 0-for-2. The Mallards rank sixteenth in the ECHL in penalty killing (83.8 percent) and seventeenth on the power play (16.3 percent).

Milestones

Mike Monfredo has played 260 career games for the Mallards and is closing in on Rick Emmett (264) and eighth place in team history...Vladimir Nikiforov has 293 career points.
