ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Tony Deluca and Marc-Andre Levesque scored shootout goals, and goaltender Jacob DeSerres stopped 16 shots along the way to help the Alaska Aces down the Fort Wayne Komets 5-4 Friday at the Sullivan Arena.

Nothing boring about this game as the final moments brought agony, relief and joy to both teams.

After ceremonies commemorating Alaska's Garet Hunt's 500th professional game, the Komets took a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Shawn Szydlowski and Mason Baptista at :48 seconds and 4:11 respectively in the first period.

Alaska wasted little time pushing back as Brandon Martell and Deluca found the back of the net...Martell's 6th goal of the season and Deluca's 8th.

No scoring in the second period as the Aces...but the third period was a doozy.

Jamie Schaafsma opened the scoring with his 17th goal of the season at 8:11 to give the Komets a 3-2 lead. The Aces tied the game on an everyone-to-the-net goal by Justin Breton, his team-leading 20th goal of the season at 13:42.

At 18:31, the Aces caught a huge break as William Wrenn threw a long pass to Ryan Tesink at the Fort Wayne blueline. Tesink tipped the puck toward the goal, and goaltender Spencer Martin, attempting to swat the puck away with his stick, whiffed on it and it went into the net to give the Aces a 4-3 lead...Tesink's 9th goal of the season.

However, Fort Wayne's Trevor Cheek snapped a close-range shot past DeSerres with just 4.8 seconds to go in regulation time to tie the game at 4.

In the overtime the Aces outshot the Komets 4-2.

In the shootout, Alaska's Peter Sivak missed, but Deluca and Levesque scored, and DeSerres stopped Schaafsma on his last attempt to give the Aces the win.

Alaska outshot the Komets 33-20 for the game.

Same two teams tomorrow night...game 3 of the series...7:15pm AST at the Sullivan Arena.

The Aces return to the Sullivan Arena ice on Saturday against Ft. Wayne.
