Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - Coming off of a big win against league leading Missouri, the Americans looked to satisfy yet another home crowd at the Allen Event Center, as they took on the Wichita Thunder on Saturday evening. Allen relied on a heavy offensive performance from a number of different players, resulting in a 6-3 win.
A wild first period showcased plenty of offense, more so from the Americans than the Thunder. Allen took a 4-2 lead into the intermission with goals from Gary Steffes, his 17th of the season, Dyson Stevenson, his 6th and 7th of the season, and Tristan King with his 9th of the season. Stevenson's pair of tallies came a mere 10 seconds apart. Wichita saw contributions from Christian Isackson, his 10th, and Dalton Reum, his 4th.
The only offense to speak of in the second period came early on as David Makowski fired a slapshot from the point, finding its way past Thunder goaltender Sean Bonar. Makowski's 11th of the season gave the Americans a 5-2 lead.
Wichita defenseman Martin Nemcik was able to make things interesting, when he scored early in the third period, making the score 5-3 Allen. Allen would tack on an empty net goal from Stevenson, his hat trick goal, to seal the game with a final score of 6-3.
The Americans will continue their homestand tomorrow afternoon, Sunday the 13th, hosting the Wichita Thunder once again at 4:05 pm.
