Marsters Named to All-Star Team
January 5, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Louisiana IceGators News Release
Lafayette, LA â The ECHL today announced IceGators goaltender Nathan Marsters has been named to the American Conference All Star team. Marsters will be the sole Louisiana representative to the 13th annual Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game on January 26 in Reading.
In 21 appearances this season, Marsters has compiled a record of 9-9-2, with a GAA of 2.52 and a save percentage of .921. The RPI graduate has been spectacular for the IceGators during his rookie campaign, earning his first pro shut on December 3, 2004, stopping 38 Texas Wildcatters shots in a 3-0 victory. On December 7, 2004, Marsters came off the bench in relief of an injured Kyle Kettles and played 56:05 of shut out hockey during a 3-0 win at Augusta. Marsters' first professional appearance was on November 13, 2004, in Biloxi, as the 24 year old stopped 43 of 44 shots and went a perfect 4 for 4 in the shootout to earn a 2-1 IceGators victory over the Sea Wolves. Marsters has been a workhorse for Todd Gordon's team playing in 17 of the last 18 Gators contests.
"I was shocked when Todd (Gordon) told me I was an All-Star," said Marsters. " I have never been an all-star at any level before, so to make this game during my rookie season is pretty unbelievable."
Marsters was a 5th round pick of the Los Angeles Kings, the 165th player taken overall, in the 2000 NHL entry draft. Marsters is the 5th IceGators goaltender to be named to the ECHL All-Star game, following in the footsteps of Bryan Schoen, Bujar Amidovski, Jason Saal, and Frederic Cloutier.
Individual game tickets for NASCAR Night on January 14 and all regular season home games are on sale now. Tickets are available at the Cajundome Box Office, and all TicketMaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com. For more information call the IceGators office at (337) 234-4423.
