Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Craig Zubersky Inked
The Victoria Salmon Kings announce the signing of former Victoria Salsa (BCHL) Defenseman Craig Zubersky. Zubersky is the second 21 year old defenseman in as many days to be signed by the Salmon Kings.
The Victoria native played last season in Georgetown, Ontario and played for the Kootenay Ice (WHL) in 2002-03.
"It is good to give another young kid from Victoria a chance to play," said Head Coach and General Manager Bryan Maxwell.
Cole Byers Signed
The Salmon Kings also announced on Tuesday January 4, 2005, the signing of 21 year old Nipiwin, Saskatchewan native Cole Byers.
Byers, also a defenseman, played his junior hockey in Vernon (BCHL) and also with the Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL).
The 6'3 212 lbs Byers is a rugged blue-liner that will make it increasingly tough on the opposition forwards.
Williams wheeled to the Nailers
The Victoria Salmon Kings have traded forward Jeff Williams to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) for the rights to Victoria native and former Victoria Salsa Mark Kosick.
Kosick left the Nailers earlier this season to play professional hockey in Germany.
Williams scored 6 goals and 5 assists for 11 points in 24 games with the Salmon Kings and finished his tenure at -10.
The Salmon Kings in return get the ECHL rights to 5'10 180 lbs. Kosick who was an 8th round draft pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in 1998.
Kosick moved from the Victoria Salsa to the University of Michigan Wolverines where he completed four seasons and was chosen to be on the 2000 NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team.
