
'Blades Get Two Named To All-Star Team

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades forward Matt Hendricks and defenseman Matt Pagnutti have been voted as starters for the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game, it was announced by the league today. Both players will be skating in their first All-Star Game.
Hendricks, 23, has put together a strong rookie campaign scoring 33 points (16g, 17a) in 32 games. Hendricks currently ranks third in the ECHL in scoring and his 33 points are tied for first among all first-year players in the league. The 5th round draft pick in 2000 by the Nashville Predators is first among rookies in goals scored, and has collected at least on point in six of the last eight games for the Everblades. Prior to joining the professional ranks, the Blaine, Minnesota native spent four seasons at St. Cloud State University where he scored 112 points (54g, 58a) in 152 career games with the Huskies.
Pagnutti, who is skating in his ninth professional season, has notched 16 points (3g, 13a) in 32 games which ranks him 10th in scoring among all ECHL defenseman. The 29-year-old recently skated in his 500th professional game on November 26 vs. Greenville. Pagnutti, the Everblades captain, is in his second season with Florida having collected 56 points in 104 career games with the 'Blades. Overall in his career, the Sudbury, Ontario native has played in 517 career games scoring 248 points (57g, 191a). Pagnutti's professional career began in 1996-97 when he skated in one game with the Carolina Monarchs of the American Hockey League. Since then, he has seen action with Louisiana (ECHL), Milwaukee (IHL), Arkansas (ECHL) and Florida (ECHL). Prior to turning pro, Pagnutti played four seasons at the collegiate level with Clarkson University where he skated in 137 games, scoring 66 points.
The other American Conference starters who will join Hendricks and Pagnutti are: Forwards Mike Harder of the Charlotte Checkers (10g, 20a - 30 points) and former Florida Everblade Carl Mallette who has picked up 18 goals and 20 assists (38 points) with the Greenville Grrrowl this season. The other starting defenseman for the American Conference is Corey Neilson of the Pensacola Ice Pilots (5g, 16a - 21 points). Getting the start in goal for the American Conference will be Mike Minard of the Columbia Inferno who holds a 13-1-2 record in 17 games with a goals against average of 2.24 and a save percentage of .992.
The National Conference All-Stars will be announced by the league on Thursday, January 6. The 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game will be played on January 26 at the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA.
The Everblades continue their four-game road trip on Thursday, January 6 against the Pee Dee Pride at the Florence Civic Center at 7:05 p.m. The 'Blades next home game is on Saturday, January 15 when they host the Columbia Inferno at Germain Arena at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available and fans can call the Everblades at (239) 948-7825 for ticket information.
