
Manzato leads Wranglers past Grizzlies with 4-3 shootout win

West Valley, UT - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (18-2-2, 38 Points) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (11-10-3, 25 Points) 4-3 in a shootout at the E-Center on Friday night. Goalie Daniel Manzato stopped 41 shots in regulation and stuffed all four Grizzlies in the shootout. Manzato improved to 9-0-0 on the season and Las Vegas is now 14-0-2 in the last 16 games played. Forwards Ryan Donally, Sean Owens and Brandon Kaleniecki each scored in the victory. Defenseman Jason Krischuk had two assists in the win.
The two teams play again in Utah on Saturday night at 6:05 pm (PST).
In the first period, Utah outshot Las Vegas 13-5 for the first 17 minutes before the Wranglers took a 1-0 lead. Defenseman Jason Krischuk held in an attempted Utah clear and shot the puck to the net. Forward Sean Owens tipped the puck past Utah goalie Nathan Lawson for the 1-0 lead at 17:13. The power-play goal was Owen's third goal of the season.
In the second period, Utah charged back to tie the game at one at 5:28. Forward Trevor Smith poked in a rebound for his tenth goal of the season. The Wranglers countered with a power-play tally by Ryan Donally at 15:51, helping Las Vegas pull in front 2-1. Donally's team-leading sixth power-play goal of the season was set up by defenseman Aaron Power and right wing Peter Ferraro. Utah scored a late goal to tie the game at two before the end of the period. Justin Bourne tallied his fifth goal of the year with 1:18 remaining in the middle period, tying the game at two.
In the third period, Brandon Kaleniecki scored his ninth goal of the season off a face off at 14:12, giving Las Vegas a 3-2 lead. Utah tied the game 44-seconds later, defenseman Andy Sertich tallied his third goal of the season on the power play, tying the game at three and forcing overtime.
After a scoreless overtime the two teams went to a shootout. Goalie Daniel Manzato stopped all four Grizzlies chances to seal the win. Forwards Aki Seitsonen and Ryan Donally scored in the shootout.
The Wranglers continue on their five-game road trip with one more game in Utah Saturday at 6:05 pm (PST). Next week, the Wranglers host the fifth annual Midnight Holiday Roundup at 11:59 pm on Monday, December 17th against the Phoenix RoadRunners. After the midnight game, the Wranglers travel to Idaho for a three-game set.
