
Inferno lose to Gladiators 4-1

DULUTH, GA. (Dec. 14, 2007)-- Second period goals by Myles Stoesz, Tomas Pospisil and Matt Anderson were too much to overcome as the Columbia Inferno (9-11-3-2, 23 points) lost to the Gwinnett Gladiators (17-5-0-1, 35 points) 4-1 on Friday night.
Stoesz scored the game's first goal, with an assist to Stuart MacRae, 3:34 into the second period to give Gwinnett a 1-0 lead. Pospisil doubled the Gladiators' lead at 7:49. Inferno captain Brad Ralph cut the lead in half less than a minute later when he put the puck past Gladiator goalie Craig Kowalski with help from Jeff Miles and Patrick Wellar. Gwinnett reclaimed their two-goal lead at 10:14 of the second when Matt Anderson beat Todd Ford.
Lou Dickenson scored at 2:15 of the third to give the Gladiators a 4-1 victory.
Ford finished with 28 saves on 32 shots, while Kowalski stopped 23 of 24.
The Inferno return to the Carolina Coliseum on Friday, Dec. 28 to host the Charlotte Checkers at 1:05 p.m. The American Red Cross will be sponsoring a blood drive on the concourse; fans can pre-register by visiting givelife.org.
