Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have traded forward Gino Guyer to the Phoenix RoadRunners in exchange for 2007 ECHL All-Star defenseman Dave Pszenyczny.

The 22-year-old Pszenyczny arrives in Anchorage this afternoon fresh from a last-place Phoenix club for which he was the only "plus" player, at +1 through 19 games. He had a goal, an assist, and a fighting major October 20 against Utah and posted a career-high three points with a goal and two assists in a win at Bakersfield November 24.

Pszenyczny represented Phoenix at the 2007 ECHL All-Star Game as a rookie, when he endured season-ending surgery to repair multiple severed tendons and arteries in his right arm after being inadvertently cut by a skate at Alaska on February 10, 2007. After a four-game stint that included two assists with Toronto in the AHL early in the year, the six-foot, 190-pound Pszenyczny had scored five goals and assisted on 16 others in only 41 games at the time of his injury. He played five years in the Ontario Hockey League prior to turning pro, ranking 10th overall among OHL defensemen with 53 points (15g-38a) in 2005-06. After stops in Sarnia (Ont.) and Mississauga, the Michigan native finished his junior career by leading Barrie to the 2006 OHL semi-finals with two goals and 12 helpers in 14 playoff games.

In and out of the lineup all season, Guyer had a goal and two assists in nine games this year for Alaska. He should play tonight in Boise when Phoenix meets Idaho in the second of their three-game series.

The Aces finished 4-0-1 on a recent five-game homestand and own a share of the West Division lead with Victoria at 14-8-2 overall heading into the weekend. While Alaska remains idle, the Salmon Kings (15-6) play at Fresno twice and Bakersfield once in a three-day stretch this weekend. The two teams battle for first place next week in a three-game series in Victoria that gets underway Wednesday at 6:05 p.m. ADT and continues with Friday and Saturday tilts at 6:05 p.m. ADT. All regular season games are broadcast live on Alaska's flagship station, AM 750 KFQD, with coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off.
