Manchester Assigns Church and Hayward to Royals

READING, PA – The Reading Royals have announced that forwards Brad Church and Leon Hayward have been assigned by the Royals AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs.

Church, 27, has appeared in 11 games for the Monarchs this season, recording 11 points (5-6=11) and zero penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound native of Dauphin, Manitoba recorded 20 points (10-10=20) in 20 games in Reading before being recalled by the Monarchs on December 9. Originally selected by the Washington Capitals in the first-round (17th overall) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Church signed a one-year contract with the Monarchs in August of 2003.

Hayward, 24, has appeared in 16 games for the Monarchs this season, recording three points (1-2=3) and 11 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound native of Seattle, Washington, has also appeared in 12 games for the Royals this season, recording eight points (6-2=8) and 12 penalty minutes. Hayward agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Monarchs in August of 2003.

The Reading Royals take the ice at home on Friday, January 16 against the Charlotte Checkers at 7:05 p.m. The first 2,000 fans through the gate receive a free Royals cap courtesy of All Star Distributing. Professional wrestler, Shawn Michaels will be in attendance signing autographs before the game. Reading battles rival Trenton on Saturday, January 17. Immix Wireless is handing out foam fingers to the first 2,000 fans in attendance and it's Nascar night in the Sovereign Center as well.
