Wheeling's Jaffray Named InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Wheeling forward Jason Jaffray is the InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week for December 29-January 4.

Jaffray, who was the 2003 ECHL Rookie of the Year with Roanoke, scored 14 points (7g-7a) and was +6 while helping Wheeling go 4-0-0 and improve to 23-9-2 to lead the Northern Division and the ECHL with 48 points.

Selected to start in the Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Game for the second straight year, Jaffray began the week with a power-play goal and four assists in a 9-3 win over Toledo on December 31. The 22-year-old Jaffray scored two goals, including the game winner, and had an assist in a 5-0 win against Toledo on January 2, and scored two goals and had an assist in a 5-1 win against Dayton on January 3. He closed out the week with two power-play goals and an assist in a 5-2 win at Dayton on January 4.

Under contract to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, Jaffray has scored a goal in each of his last four games, including two goals in three straight games, and is tied for second in the ECHL with 46 points (19g-27a) and tied for third in the league with 19 goals.

In his first professional season in 2002-03, Jaffray led ECHL rookies with 51 assists and 85 points in 64 games while also appearing in two games with Norfolk of the AHL. He was named to the All-ECHL First Team and the ECHL All-Rookie team and became the first player ever to win the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month twice, earning the honor in November and December.
