
Checkers Scott Meyer Named ECHL's ITech "Saver of the Week"

(PRINCETON, N.J. Tuesday, January 6)- Charlotte goaltender Scott Meyer is the ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week for December 29-January 4. Under contract to Hartford of the American Hockey League, Meyer was 3-0-0 with a shutout, a 1.31 goals against average and a .980 save percentage as Charlotte went 4-1-0.
The 6-0 and 185-pound Meyer began the week with 36 saves in a 3-0 win against Greensboro on December 30 for his fourth career shutout. He returned the following night to make 29 saves in a 4-3 overtime win against Florence, and closed out the week making 30 saves in a 3-1 win at Augusta on January 2.
"At the beginning of the season we knew Scott would be one of the top goalies in the ECHL," commented Checkers Head Coach and General Manager Don MacAdam. "His award today by the ECHL is proof of what we already knew about Scott."
Meyer is 5-0-0 with a 1.81 goals against average and a .942 save percentage in his last six games. He is 12-11-1 with a .926 save percentage and he ranks 13th in the ECHL with a 2.45 goals against average.
In 2002-03, Meyer was 20-5-0 with a 2.61 goals against average and a .917 save percentage in 27 games with Charlotte and 1-5-1 with a 4.34 goals against average and a .845 save percentage in nine games with Hartford of the AHL. He began his professional career in 2001-02 going 14-10-5 with a 2.72 goals against average and a .897 save percentage in 30 games with Charlotte and 4-4-2 with a 2.14 goals against average and a .921 save percentage in 13 games with Hartford.

DUSTY JAMIESON RECALLED: The Hartford Wolf Pack has recalled right wing Dusty Jamieson from the Checkers. Jamieson is Charlotte's second-leading scorer with 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points in 24 games. This will be Jamieson's second stint with the Wolf Pack this season. Earlier in the season Dusty played in four games for Hartford with no points
KEVIN CAULFIELD RETURNS: Right wing Kevin Caulfield will return to the Checkers tomorrow night after missing Charlotte's last seven games. Caulfield joined the Checkers on December 16 and played three games that week, getting one goal and one assist.
MIKE WIRLL REASSIGNED BY HARTFORD: Right wing Mike Wirll was reassigned to the Checkers by the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack today. Wirll spent the first part of the season with the Checkers before being assigned to Jacksonville of WHA 2 on November 22. Wirll had two goals and five assists for seven points in ten games with the Checkers. For Jacksonville, Wirll played in 16 games with 10 goals and five assists for 15 points.
