DES MOINES, IA - The Omaha Storm Chasers (30-31) used five home runs to defeat the Iowa Cubs (28-34) by a score of 8-2, Thursday at Principal Park.

Omaha started the scoring with three runs in the second inning on an RBI single from Clay Dungan and a two-run home run off the bat of Brewer Hicklen. Iowa got one run back in their half of the inning when Narciso Crook hit his fifth home run in his last six games.

They cut the lead to one when Nelson Maldonado hit a solo shot of his own, his second of the year with Iowa. The game stayed at 3-2 until the fifth, when the Storm Chasers got home runs from Edward Olivares and Michael Massey to take a 6-2 lead.

Austin Cox stayed dialed in for Omaha, giving them seven strong innings of two-run ball. The lefty allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out two, earning his first win of the year.

Hicklen and Nathan Eaton went back-to-back in the eighth to grow Omaha's lead to six, where it would stay as three pitchers combined to keep Iowa off the board through the final six frames.

POSTGAME NOTES:

- Dixon Machado went 0-for-3 with a walk, ending his hitting streak at a season-long 14 games. His walk extended his on-base streak to 29 games and gave him 33 walks compared to just 27 strikeouts this year.

- Omaha's pitching staff retired the final 16 batters they faced, getting seven innings from their starter Austin Cox and two perfect innings of relief from Andres Nunez and Sam Freeman.

- Narciso Crook's home run in the second inning brought his total on the year to nine, one shy of the team lead. It was his fifth home run in his last six games.

Iowa and Omaha will continue their series with game four of the six-game set tomorrow night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:08 pm. Friday night fireworks will follow the conclusion of tomorrow night's game. For more information and tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
