Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves were roughed up by the Akron RubberDucks for the second straight night as they dropped the second game of a four-game series, 10-3 at Jerry Uht Park.
The RubberDucks struck first in the top of the fourth inning against Erie starter Kyle Ryan. With two outs, Anthony Gallas sent a solo home run to right for a 1-0 lead. Alex Lavisky reached base on a hit-by-pitch and moved to second on a Tony Wolters single. Jordan Smith followed with a base hit, plating Lavisky making it 2-0. Jake Lowery then cleared the bases with a three-run blast to left for a 5-0 Ducks lead.
The Ducks added onto their lead in the fifth. Ollie Linton picked up a leadoff base knock, stole second, and came home on an Erik Gonzalez double. After reaching third on an Adam Abraham groundout, Gonzalez scored on an Gallas single for a 7-0 lead.
Akron continued to add to the lead in the seventh. Gonzalez led off with a single and scored on a Gallas triple making it 8-0. Lavisky walked putting two on for Wolters who lifted a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Gallas. Lavisky later scored on a Lowry knock for a 10-0 lead.
The SeaWolves finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh. With two out, Jaime Johnson got on with a base knock, reached second due to defensive indifference, and scored on a Jason Krizan single. Marcus Lemon then pinch hit and blasted a two-run home run, his first of the season, to right cutting the Akron lead to seven. It would be as close as Erie got.
RubberDucks pitcher Gabriel Arias (6-2) picked up the win in 6 2/3 innings, giving up a run on 7 hits and 2 walks.
Ryan (5-8) allowed seven runs on 10 hits with a walk and five strikeouts in six innings.
