Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - One of the most thrilling homestands will begin on Friday when the Altoona Curve return home to Peoples Natural Gas Field for the first time in July. Celebrate with us on the Fourth of July and don't miss our exclusive Pedro Alvarez bobblehead this Saturday. Plus, when Altoona battles the Erie SeaWolves on July 10, catch the stars, and the zombie plague, in Curve, Pa.
The annual tradition of Fourth of July continues at Peoples Natural Gas Field when Altoona returns to the ballpark on Friday night. After this 7 p.m. game, watch in awe at our epic, postgame Fireworks Extravaganza presented by Pennsylvania Lottery. During the game, the players will wear special Fourth of July-themed hats and all fans in attendance can partake in the Hat-Off-the-Head Auction with all proceeds to benefit the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
Saturday's game with Harrisburg will feature the Pedro Alvarez Bobblehead presented by Nuts For You to the first 1,500 fans. Alvarez played for the Curve in 2009 for just 60 games and was named team MVP due to his dominant performance. After he was called up in late-June from Class A, Alvarez batted .333 with 13 home runs and 40 RBIs.
Fans can enjoy the postgame fireworks again after Sunday's game and for a third time during the homestand on Tuesday. The Curve will play a doubleheader against the Erie SeaWolves on that Two-for-Tuesday and after game two, fans can stick around for the fireworks show.
When the Curve wrap up their series against the Erie SeaWolves on Thursday, July 10, fans of the critically-acclaimed The Walking Dead can try not to be devoured by meet Vincent M. Ward, who played the prisoner "Oscar" as part of Zombie Night at the ballpark. The Curve players will wear special Zombie-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off and all proceeds will benefit the Red Cross. The gates swing open at 5 p.m. for Live music from Ryan Matthew on the Rocky Gap Casino Resort Entertainment Deck.
Kids Run the Bases following all of the holiday weekend games (Friday-Sunday).
