Lexington Legends News Release

The Kannapolis Intimidators won a rain-shortened second game 3-1 to earn a split of a doubleheader with the Lexington Legends Thursday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The Legends came from behind with three runs in the sixth inning to win the first game, 3-2. Both games were scheduled to go seven innings. In the opener, The Legends trailed 2-0 with two outs and the bases empty in the bottom of the sixth. Telvin Nash and Chris Wallace singled, and Mike Kvasnicka doubled to left center field, scoring both runners and tying the game at 2-2. Kvasnicka went to third on a wild pitch, and after Daniel Adamson drew a walk, Tyler Burnett lined a single to right to drive in the go-ahead run. Jorge DeLeon (1-0), who entered the game in the sixth, retired Kannapolis in order in the seventh and picked up the win. Kannapolis reliever Kevin Moran (0-2) took the loss.

Kannapolis scored a run in the top of the first inning of the second game. Trayce Thompson was hit by a pitch leading off the game. He moved to third on Ross Wilson's single and scored on Brady Shoemaker's sacrifice fly. The Intimidators added a run in the third on a single by Wilson and a double by Shoemaker. Lexington scored in the bottom of the third when Daniel Adamson reached second on an infield hit and a throwing error by pitcher Ryan Buch. Adamson went to third on an infield out and scored on Ben Orloff's single to make the score 2-1.

Kannapolis got its final run on Drew Lee's solo homer in the fourth. Rain stopped the game at the end of the sixth inning. After a delay of one hour and eight minutes, the game was called. Lee, the Mt. Sterling native and former Morehead State star, continued his hot hitting for Kannapolis. He had a double in three at bats in the first game, and was two-for-three in the second game, including his second homer of the series. He is eight-for-14 with two homers and six RBIs through the first four games of the series. The teams have split the first four games, which concludes with a 7:05 p.m. game Friday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
