Legends Late Rally Drops Intimidators in Game 1

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 28, 2011) - The Kannapolis Intimidators lost a two-run lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, dropping game one of a doubleheader 3-2 to the Lexington Legends Thursday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Lexington first baseman Tyler Burnett drove in the winning run for the Legends in the bottom of the sixth with two out. He hit a single to right field that drove in Michael Kvasnicka from third base to give the Legends their third run of the inning. Earlier in the inning, Kvasnicka's two-run double tied the game.

RHP Kevin Moran (0-2) picked up the loss for Kannapolis. He entered the game in the sixth to replace RHP Steven Upchurch, who got the start for the Intimidators and gave up no runs on just three hits in five innings. Getting the win for Lexington was Jorge De Leon (1-0). He pitched a scoreless two innings of relief once he came on to replace starter Carlos Quevedo in the sixth. Quevedo gave up two runs on five hits while striking out eight and walking none in the five innings he worked.

The teams play the fourth game of their five game series in game two of the doubleheader later tonight at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. On the hill for Kannapolis will be RHP Ryan Buch (1-2, 4.84) against RHP Ruben Alaniz (2-1, 9.58) for Lexington.
