Scoma Leads the Way in 10-1 Win

Hickory Crawdads News Release
Hickory, NC - One night after striking out four times, redemption in Hickory was spelled R-Y-A-N. Ryan Scoma homered as part of a four-RBI night as the Augusta GreenJackets bounced back from an extra innings loss a night before in a 10-1 win on Thursday night over the Hickory Crawdads.
Scoma's first inning two-run shot set the tone for the night in a game the GreenJackets never trailed. Augusta added a run in the second on a Carlos Willoughby RBI single and another in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Raynor Campbell to jump to a 4-0 lead.
Austin Fleet retired the first six hitters he saw in his best start of the season. He escaped the third with no damage thanks to two pickoffs, he got out of trouble in the fourth with a double play ball and retired the side in order in the fifth. Fleet (2-2) allowed just one run on four hits and three walks while striking out four. Hickory's lone run came in the seventh on a Tomas Telis home run on the last pitch thrown by Fleet.
The GreenJackets ripped the game wide open in the eighth, sending eight men to the plate and scoring four times on five hits - four of them doubles. Scoma brought home two, while Devin Harris and Jeff Arnold knocked in one apiece during the inning. Raynor Campbell's two-run opposite field home run in the eighth put the GreenJackets into double digits with a 10-1 lead.
Carlos Melo (2-2) took the loss for Hickory, walking seven and allowing four runs - three earned - on just two hits in four innings. Melo struck out four but the walks proved to be too much to overcome.
For the second series in a row, the GreenJackets come into the fifth game with a chance to get their first series win of the season. Shawn Sanford (0-1) heads to the mound for Augusta on Friday to face Roman Mendez (3-0). First pitch will come at 7:05 in Hickory with the pregame action beginning at 6:50, airing on WRDW-AM 1630 and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
Single-game and Season Tickets are currently available by calling the GreenJackets front office at 706-922-WINS while further information can be found online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
