Intimidators Take Game 2 To Split DH In Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 28, 2011) - The Kannapolis Intimidators built up an early lead and held on to win a rain-shortened second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Lexington Legends, 3-1, in six innings at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

CF Trayce Thompson led off the game reaching first base on a hit by pitch and was able to go from first to third on a 2B Ross Wilson single. LF Brady Shoemaker's sac fly cashed Thompson for the early 1-0 lead. Shoemaker added an RBI-double in the third inning to bring home Wilson for a 2-0 advantage.

The Legends got on the board with Ben Orloff's run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the third. Kannapolis returned fire in the top of the fourth on 3B Drew Lee's solo homerun (2), his second of the series, for a 3-1 lead.

Intimidators starter RHP Ryan Buch (2-2) made his fifth start of the season, going 6.0 innings, allowing 1 run, 3 hits, and 2 walks while fanning 6 batters for the win.

Legends' starting pitcher Ruben Alaniz (2-2) gave up 2 runs on 3 hits in 3.0 innings in a losing effort before giving way to relievers Alex Sogard and David Martinez, who combined allow 1 run on 2 hits over three innings.

The Intimidators and Legends wrap up the series on Friday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark at 7:05 p.m. Kannapolis returns to North Carolina to begin a four-game series against the Hickory Crawdads on Saturday.
