LINCOLN - Led by a strong outing from Travis Lawler and a big seventh inning, the Amarillo Sox downed the Saltdogs 9-4 in front of 3,116 fans at Haymarket Park Friday night.

After Lincoln tied the game on a Brandon Jones sacrifice fly in the fourth, the Sox scored the next seven runs of the contest, including four in the seventh.

Lawler (5-2) tossed seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five and walking two to earn the win. John James (6-4) went six-plus, allowing five earned on 10 hits to suffer the loss.

The Saltdogs struck for two runs in the eighth and had the bases loaded with one out but new pitcher Pat Overholt induced an inning-ending double play on his first pitch.

Vance Albitz was the only Saltdog to book a multi-hit game.

Amarillo stroked 15 hits and has 28 in the first two games of the series.
