T-Bones Power Past Hawks on Friday Night, 7-5

FARGO, N.D. - Drew Graham (1-0) gave the Kansas City T-Bones (26-33) three perfect innings of relief on Friday night, allowing the offense to continue pressing against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (27-32) pitching staff in a 7-5 victory at Newman Outdoor Field.
Fargo struck first in the contest, scoring three times against T.J. Large in the bottom of the third inning for an early 3-0 lead. The RedHawks opened the inning with back-to-back doubles by Todd Jennings and Zach Penprase and Kyle Nichols added a two-run double later in the frame to cap the scoring.
The T-Bones answered two innings later, plating four runs on four hits to chase Alex Caldera from the game and gain a 4-3 advantage. After two quick outs, Kansas City got a double and a walk in front of a two-run triple by Keanon Simon, his eighth of the season. Gerardo Caceres followed with an RBI single and later scored the final run on an RBI single by Ray Sadler.
Both starters went just four and two-thirds innings for their respective teams and neither would factor into the decision. Large allowed three runs on seven hits while Caldera was charged with four runs on seven hits.
Fargo loaded the bases with two outs to chase Large in the fifth before Trent Lare entered and induced a flyout to end the threat. After a sacrifice fly by Jeff Hulett pushed the score to 5-3 in the top of the sixth, Lare surrendered three straight hits, including an RBI single to Michael Coles, to begin the bottom of the frame. Graham entered with runners at first and second and saw Fargo immediately attempt a double steal. Both runners were safe and a throwing error on the play allowed Coles to score, tying the game at five.
Graham responded by retiring all nine batters he faced, striking out two in the process to keep the RedHawks off the board. The T-Bones offense reclaimed their final lead in the top of the seventh on a two-run, two-out single by Aharon Eggleston that made the final score 7-5.
Kyle Dahman threw a perfect ninth to earn his first save of the season. Graham earned the victory for Kansas City while William Jackel (0-1) was charged with two runs on one hit in two innings of relief.
Kansas City scored six of their seven runs with two outs. Simon's triple pushed his current overall hit streak to 10 games and his road hit streak to 17.
Right-hander Matt Mitchell (2-2, 5.83) takes the mound for Kansas City on Saturday night against a starter yet to be named for the RedHawks. First pitch is set for 6:00.
