Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

WINNIPEG, Manitoba. - One night after the Sioux Falls Pheasants scored 17 runs on the Winnipeg Goldeyes, the Goldeyes reciprocated by rolling to an 18-1 victory over the Pheasants on Friday night in Winnipeg. The four-game series is now even at one game apiece.

Jon Weber's bases-loaded double cleared the bags for the Goldeyes, giving them a 3-0 in the bottom of the first. Winnipeg proceeded to score in every inning through the sixth, piling up all 18 runs. Every Goldeye had at least one hit. Ridge Carpenter and Weber each had four RBI, while Price Kendall went 4-for-5. Kody Kaiser finished a home run shy of the cycle with along three RBI.

Winnipeg starter Ace Walker (7-3) threw a complete game for the second straight time. He held the Pheasants to one run on six hits. Their only run came on Gus Milner's single in the ninth inning. Milner returned to the lineup for the first time since July 8 and went 2-for-4.

A bright spot for the Pheasants was reliever Dan McDaniel. McDaniel tossed a clean seventh inning to extend his scoreless streak to 13 innings since June 23.

The Pheasants fell to 26-33 on the year, 11 games behind Winnipeg in the North Division.

The series continues at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, July 16 in Winnipeg. The game will be broadcast on Sioux Falls Sports Radio 1230-AM KWSN and www.kwsn.com.
