Late Goal Lifts Rapids to Draw with Houston Dynamo

September 9, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Colorado Rapids News Release

On a cold night in Commerce City, the Colorado Rapids snapped the Houston Dynamo's win streak with a late-game winner in the 6th minute of stoppage time for a final score of 1-1.

Houston got off to a hot start, but Colorado picked up steam as the first half went on. The home side had plenty of chances, but weren't able to put any of them in the back of the net and it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime.

Less than a minute into the second half, Dynamo forward Christian Ramirez got on the end of a cross into the box from Memo Rodriguez and volleyed it far post past Rapids goalkeeper William Yarbrough to put the Dynamo up 1-0. Colorado immediately responded and dominated the half, eventually getting the tying goal from defender Lalas Abubakar in the 6th minute of stoppage time.
