
Knights Fall to Redbirds 4-0 on Tuesday Night

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights opened a six-game homestand against the Memphis Redbirds on Tuesday night with a 4-0 loss from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. The loss dropped the Knights to 2-13 in the second half.
RHP Chase Solesky (0-5, 8.44) started the game for the Knights and was charged with the loss after he allowed three runs on five hits over 5.2 innings pitched. Solesky gave up two of his three runs in the first inning as the Redbirds jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first.
The Redbirds scored for the first time on a bases-loaded walk to Matt Koperniak in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. The team added one more run in the inning against Solesky when Masyn Winn scored on a double play hit by Juan Yepez.
Memphis tacked on two more runs along the way and did so with a sacrifice-fly RBI by Richie Palacios in the fifth inning and an RBI single by Koperniak.
RHP Logan Gragg (2-0, 0.82) started the game for the Redbirds and earned the win after he tossed six shutout innings. RHP James Naile pitched the final three innings to earn his first save of the season.
In all, the Knights tallied five hits in the game.
The Knights will continue the six-game homestand against the Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals) on Wednesday night in Uptown Charlotte. The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com, MiLB.tv and the Bally Live app. First pitch is set for 7:04 p.m. from Truist Field on Wednesday.
