Charlotte Knights News Release

(JACKSONVILLE, FL) - The Charlotte Knights wrapped up a six-game road trip against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp with a 2-1 loss on Sunday night from 121 Financial Ballpark in Jacksonville, FL. With the loss, the Knights finished the six-game series with a record of 2-4.

RHP Brent Honeywell made his Charlotte debut on Sunday and was impressive. Honeywell tossed three shutout innings and did not factor in the decision. He allowed just three hits and struck out one batter. Charlotte LHP Garrett Davila (2-10, 6.98) was charged with the loss after he came on in relief and allowed two runs on four hits over three innings. Davila allowed both runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, which gave the 'Shrimp a 2-0 lead. Catcher Jorge Alfaro doubled home Jacksonville's first run of the game. He later scored Jacksonville's second run of the game on an RBI groundout from Dane Myers.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Knights cut the lead in half thanks to an RBI from first baseman Xavier Fernández. Charlotte second baseman José Rodríguez scored on the sacrifice-fly by Fernández. The RBI was the third for Fernández over his last two games. Rodríguez, who had three hits in his Triple-A debut on Saturday night, reached base three times in Sunday's game. He also scored Charlotte's only run of the game on Sunday.

Jumbo Shrimp LHP Ryan Weathers (3-0, 2.45) earned the win after he allowed just four hits over five scoreless innings.

RHP Deivi García was a bright spot for the Knights in relief on Sunday. García struck out five batters over two shutout innings. He now has 13 strikeouts in his seven innings pitched since joining the Knights last month.

The Knights will have an off day on Monday before returning home to the Queen City to play 12 games in 13 days at Truist Field. The Knights will open a six-game home series against the Durham Bulls (Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) on Tuesday night. First pitch on Tuesday is set for 6:35 p.m. from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte.
