Charlotte Knights News Release

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - The Charlotte Knights dropped the finale of a six-game series against the Durham Bulls by a score of 9-4 on Sunday night from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte.

Center fielder Mikie Mahtook continued his hot hitting and launched a two-run home run in the first inning on Sunday night to give the Knights an early 2-0 lead. Mahtook, who also homered twice on Saturday, is the team leader in home runs this season with 25.

The Knights added two more home runs in the game thanks to left fielder Zach Remillard and catcher Seby Zavala. Both Remillard and Zavala's home runs were solo shots. In all, the Knights had six hits on the night.

The team held a 4-4 tie into the eighth inning before the Bulls eventually took a lead with a five-run inning against the Charlotte bullpen. RHP Lane Ramsey (1-5, 6.97) was charged with all five runs in the inning and took the loss. The Knights won one of six games in the series against the Bulls.

Sunday's game also marked the end of the 2021 regular season. The Knights finished the 2021 season in seventh place with a 45-75 overall record.
